Joinery storage

Bespoke Joinery

Bespoke joinery is woodwork designed and made to fit a particular property, space or use rather than selected as a standard-size product.

Bespoke joinery can include cabinetry, doors, shelving, window seats and carefully matched architectural woodwork. The design starts with the actual dimensions and character of the room.

In Edinburgh tenements and townhouses, uneven walls, tall ceilings, deep skirtings and chimney alcoves often make standard units an awkward fit. Made-to-measure work can use these spaces while allowing existing features to remain legible.

A good brief considers what will be stored, how doors and drawers open, access to services and the finish beside original joinery. The detail of the scribing, proportions and installation determines whether the result feels built into the room.
