Bespoke Shelving

Bespoke shelving is shelving designed and made for a specific space, load and arrangement of items.

Shelves can be built into an alcove, placed above a low cabinet or arranged across a full wall. Their depth, span and fixings should suit what they will hold, whether books, records, display objects or everyday storage.

In Edinburgh period rooms, shelving often has to meet irregular plaster, chimney breasts and original mouldings. Accurate measuring and careful scribing can make the installation feel intentional without hiding every older detail.

The support behind the visible shelf matters. Heavy collections require suitable materials and fixings into a sound substrate, not just a convincing decorative face.
