Bathroom Extraction

Bathroom extraction is the complete ventilation arrangement used to remove moist air from a bathroom and discharge it appropriately outside.

The system includes the fan, duct, controls, external termination and a route for replacement air to enter the room. Each part affects the airflow achieved in practice.

In an Edinburgh bathroom, difficult duct routes, sealed windows and cold external walls can contribute to persistent condensation. Installing a stronger-looking fan without checking the duct may not solve the problem.

Extraction should be planned alongside heating and everyday ventilation. An extractor fan is the individual device; bathroom extraction describes the wider system and its performance.
