Building Warrant Drawings

Building warrant drawings are the technical plans, sections and details submitted to demonstrate how proposed building work will comply with Scottish building standards.

They typically show dimensions, construction build-ups, structure, insulation, ventilation, drainage, fire precautions, access and other information relevant to the project.

Warrant drawings differ from early concept or planning drawings because they resolve how the work is intended to meet technical requirements. Structural calculations and specialist certificates may accompany them.

The approved warrant set should be available during construction. If the design changes materially, the amendment process should be addressed rather than leaving discrepancies until completion.
