Built-In Wardrobe

A built-in wardrobe is clothes storage fitted to the dimensions of a room, wall or recess and fixed in place.

A built-in wardrobe can combine hanging rails, drawers, shelves and upper cupboards. Its layout should reflect the items it needs to hold, the door clearance and any awkward angles.

Edinburgh bedrooms may have tall ceilings, chimney recesses or sloping floors that make a standard wardrobe leave unusable gaps. Fitted joinery can make better use of the available height while respecting existing skirtings, doors and picture rails.

Before installation, check the condition of the wall and the airflow behind the cabinetry, especially on a cold external wall. Access to sockets, pipework or inspection points should be planned rather than covered permanently.
