Floor Levelling

Floor levelling is the process of correcting unevenness in a floor base so it can properly receive the intended finish.

Levelling may involve repairing boards, correcting a structural issue, preparing an existing slab or applying a suitable levelling compound. The right method depends on why the floor is uneven.

Older Edinburgh floors are not always perfectly level. Before pouring material across a sloping floor, check joists, movement, moisture and the extra height that a new layer would create at doors and stairs.

The required tolerance depends on the finish. Large-format tile, engineered timber and carpet place different demands on flatness; levelling the surface cannot remedy a weak subfloor underneath.
