Sanitaryware

Sanitaryware is the collective term for bathroom fixtures such as toilets, basins, bidets and urinals, and is sometimes used more broadly to include baths.

The items need to suit the room, water supply, drainage positions and method of fixing. Product drawings matter because two fixtures with similar appearances can have very different service requirements.

In an Edinburgh renovation, choosing sanitaryware before walls and floors are closed helps position wastes, concealed frames and pipework accurately. It also reduces awkward boxing around late changes.

Sanitaryware describes the fixtures themselves rather than the complete bathroom installation, which also includes brassware, furniture, waterproofing, ventilation and finishes.
