Schedule of Works

A schedule of works is an organised description of the individual tasks and construction operations included within a building project.

It can be arranged by room, trade or work section and may describe demolition, repairs, new construction, finishes and associated requirements. Its level of detail should suit the procurement method.

The schedule helps contractors price the same scope and gives the project team a clearer reference during construction. Drawings should be cross-checked against it to avoid omissions or contradictions.

A schedule of works is not necessarily a programme: the schedule defines what work is included, while the programme sets out when and in what sequence it will happen.
