Shower Enclosure

A shower enclosure is the screened area around a shower, designed to contain water and provide access to the showering space.

An enclosure may use framed or frameless glass, sliding or hinged doors, and a shower tray or waterproofed floor. Its dimensions need to suit both the user and the available room.

In an Edinburgh bathroom renovation, walls and floors may not be perfectly square, which affects glass tolerances and tray installation. The door also needs clear space to open without striking sanitaryware.

The enclosure controls spray but is not the waterproofing system itself. Seals, wall preparation, tray junctions and drainage all need to work together.
