Bathroom Tiling

Bathroom tiling is the installation of wall or floor tiles over a suitable prepared and, where required, waterproofed background.

The work includes setting out, cutting, fixing, grouting and forming clean junctions around sanitaryware and fittings. Tile size and pattern influence where cuts and grout lines fall.

In an Edinburgh bathroom with uneven walls or floors, preparation often determines the quality of the finished surface. Large-format tiles do not make an irregular substrate disappear and may require tighter tolerances.

Tiling should be coordinated with tanking, falls to drains and movement joints. Tiles and grout should not be relied upon as the sole waterproofing in a shower or wet room.
