Integrated Appliances

Integrated appliances are fitted within kitchen cabinetry and concealed fully or partly behind coordinated doors or panels.

Common examples include integrated dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers and washing machines. Built-in ovens and microwaves are housed within cabinets but remain visibly distinct, so the terminology can overlap in everyday use.

The appliance specification affects cabinet widths, ventilation, service access and door arrangements. These details need to be confirmed before units and worktops are ordered.

In an Edinburgh fitted kitchen, integrating appliances can create a quieter run of cabinetry, but future removal and maintenance must remain practical. A decorative panel should never obstruct ventilation required by the manufacturer.
