Kitchen Worktop

A kitchen worktop is the durable horizontal surface fitted over base cabinets for food preparation and everyday kitchen use.

Worktops are available in timber, stone, engineered stone, laminate, stainless steel and other materials. Thickness, jointing, edge details and maintenance vary considerably between them.

Accurate templating and support are important around sinks, hobs, corners and long spans. In an Edinburgh period property, walls that are not square can make scribes and upstands more visible than expected.

The material should suit how the kitchen will be used, not just the showroom sample. Heat, staining, water and repairability all matter, as does coordination with splashbacks and cabinetry.
