Walk-In Shower

A walk-in shower is an open or partly screened showering area designed without a conventional enclosed shower door.

Walk-in showers may use a low-profile tray or a formed waterproof floor. A fixed glass screen commonly controls spray while leaving a generous opening for access.

The room layout has to provide enough length and screen coverage to contain water. Drain position, falls, waterproofing and ventilation are more important than the visual simplicity suggests.

In an Edinburgh flat, the available floor depth and route for waste pipes may influence whether a very low threshold is achievable. A wet room waterproofs a wider floor and wall area; the terms should not automatically be treated as identical.
