Wall-Hung Toilet

A wall-hung toilet is a toilet pan fixed clear of the floor to a concealed supporting frame, with the cistern usually hidden behind the finished wall.

The structural frame carries the load and holds the pan, waste and cistern in their designed positions. The apparent simplicity depends on accurate work concealed behind the finish.

A wall-hung toilet can make a small bathroom floor easier to clean and allow the pan height to be set during installation. The frame and service void nevertheless use depth that must be allowed for in the plan.

Future access to the cistern and flush mechanism should remain possible. The supporting system, wall finish and waterproofing need to be coordinated before tiling.
